The Lumberton Panthers handled their first-round opponent in French Camp by the tune of a 48-0 shutout. Lumberton now has a 10-2 overall record, and it’ll travel to Stringer next week for the second round.
COLLINSVILLE – Purvis (8-3, 4-1 Region 7-4A) took down Moss Point in a low-scoring affair in the first round, so its rewarded with a road second-round matchup with undefeated West Lauderdale.
And the Knights are 12-0 for a reason, too.
There are six teams still alive for a state championship, and while five begin its journey next week, Purivs won its first-round matchup with Moss Point Friday night.

6A First Round:
PURVIS - Purvis used a strong defense to hold Moss Point out of the end zone Friday night for a 10-3 first-round Class 4A victory to advance to next week’s contest at West Lauderdale.
West Lauderdale defeated North Pike 21-11 Friday to earn the second-round game.
PURVIS – A week after Purvis’ worst loss of the season, the Tornadoes answered it with a 30-6 win over Forrest County AHS to clinched the second seed in the 4A playoffs and a home playoff game.
PURVIS – Behind a 334-yard performance for Poplarville’s rushing attack, the Hornets took down Purvis 38-6 to claim the Region 7-4A title.
PURVIS – For the second season in a row, the Purvis Tornadoes are in position to claim the region championship with just one win.
