HATTIESBURG – While scoring 17 runs looks like an offensive explosion, Sumrall was gifted sevens errors and countless wild pitches or passed balls in the process of its 17-10 win against Hattiesburg at the reopened Smokie Harrington Park Friday night.
PURVIS – Nothing was going right for Sumrall, seriously, nothing. It was battling foul trouble as early as the second quarter, senior Ryan McRaney banged up his knee in the third quarter and Columbia shot nearly 50 percent during the game.
PURVIS – Forrest County Agricultural High School already had Sumrall’s full attention heading into Thursday night’s Region 7-4A semifinal game. But it took the Lady Bobcats upsetting top-seeded Greene County to fully understand the task at hand.
SUMRALL – Bobcats head coach Lee Ready knew he would have a good team this season, returning seven seniors from last season’s squad. But he didn’t quite expect a 9-1 record in Region 7-4A heading into the district tournament in Purvis.
SUMRALL -- The Bobcats and the Lady Bobcats won a pair of games against Poplarville Tuesday night, with the girls winning 61-46 and the boys earning a 72-67.
