HATTIESBURG – The 2018 season didn’t start as planned for junior Southern Miss pitcher J.C. Keys. Tabbed as the Sunday start through the first two weeks of the season, Keys pitched six innings in two games with a 0-1 record.
On this week’s episode of The PineBeltSPORTS Podcast, Hattiesburg girls basketball coach Caronica Jackson joins the show to talk all things State Championship. Her Lady Tigers claimed the 5A State Title last Friday, and she goes into detail about everything from that night.
HATTIESBURG – Hattiesburg senior A.J. Stinson saved his best outing of the season for a good time.
Stinson toed the rubber Saturday afternoon against Oak Grove and pitched four shutout innings in a 3-2 win over the Warriors. The performance was his first win of the season after two prior starts against Sumrall and George County.
HATTIESBURG – Southern Miss starting pitcher Stevie Powers hurled a gem Saturday in Game 2 of the series against Georgia Southern. He didn’t earn the win after throwing 6.1 innings of six-hit ball, but the Golden Eagles did, and that’s all the matters to him.
JACKSON – Sophomore Chelsea Ulmer has been a bright spot for the Hattiesburg Lady Tigers since her freshman season. With her older sister, Terralyn Ulmer, leading the team as the point guard, Chelsea averaged 10 points and three steals a game as a freshman last season.
