Papa John's hires award-winning activist
Papa Johns Pizza of South Mississippi is proud to announce the addition of John W. "John Boy" Pace to their community outreach staff. Pace is the 2014 recipient of the Governor's Initiative for Volunteer Excellence (GIVE) Award for "outstanding achievement in community building initiatives." The GIVE Award, Mississippi's highest honor for volunteer service, was presented by Governor Phil Bryant. Recognizing an amazing career of 28 consecutive years, more than 44,000 certified volunteer hours, assisting more than 300 different charitable causes to raise moreo than $5.5 million, President Obama presented Pace with the 2016 President's Call to Service Lifetime Achievement Award, the United States' highest honor for volunteer service.
Following his retirement from the state, Pace relocated to the Pine Belt area in November, 2015, to be near his daughter, a student at Jones County Junior College. In this short time, he has planned and carried out more than two dozen events in support of local veterans, military, law enforcement, first responders, senior citizens and other local charitable causes.
