Stillwell heads to Hub City as BMDMI head
During its Feb. 10 board, the board of trustees of Baptist Medical and Dental Mission International (BMDMI), headquartered in Hattiesburg, elected Richard Stillwell to serve as the organization’s president.
Stillwell has many years of affiliation with BMDMI as a mission team member serving in Nicaragua. He is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in pastoral ministries and of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he earned a Master’s of Divinity degree with emphasis in Biblical languages.
Stillwell has served as pastor for five Baptist churches in Oklahoma and Texas, most recently at First Baptist Church of Walters, Okla., where he served six years as senior pastor. Stillwell has also served as the first vice president of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma and has served on the Boards of Oklahoma Baptist University, the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, and the School Board of Walters Public Schools.
He will be relocating to the Hattiesburg area along with his wife, Kimberly, and their daughter, Kassidee, in the near future. Stillwell will assume his role as president of BMDMI on April 1.
“This is a great day for BMDMI,” said BMDMI Interim President Dwight Carr. “Richard brings many years of experience in ministry and business and is very adept in developing personal relationships which are so vital in a ministry like BMDMI.”
“We eagerly look forward to working with Richard,” said Tony Waits, chairman of BMDMI board of trustees. “The trustees feel that he is God’s man for this ministry at this time.”
BMDMI exists under the lordship of Jesus Christ to evangelize the lost, disciple the saved, and minister to the needs of the poor. Since its founding in 1974, BMDMI has grown into an international missions organization with missionaries and ministries in Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala and South Asia.
