No Shave NovemberBy BUSTER WOLFE,
After raising more than $1,200 in the Hattiesburg Police Department’s No Shave November event, Chief Anthony Parker challenged the officers to “double down.” He said he would extend the fundraising campaign through December.
“This year, we raised $1,225 for No Shave November,” Parker said. “That money will go to a great cause – our fund to help officers’ families and to do things in the community. So I really appreciate all of the participation.”
Awards went to “The Natural” (Best Overall) – Assistant Chief Frank Misenhelter, “Best Try” – Officer Na’Aman Holmes, “The Castaway” – Tommy Joe Cook, “The St. Nick,” Officer Nathan Hinton, “People’s Choice” – Officer Chad Young and “Best Campaign” – Officer Brian Gray.
“This has been a fun time this year,” Parker said. “I think this has been the most fun we have had with this. I thank the hard work by the young ladies who made this happen and for the money we raised for this cause.”
Female personnel who paid to participate in the fundraising were able to take advantage of gift cards for massages.
