OGHS student receives Ed Langston scholarship
Jourdan Green, a senior at Oak Grove High School, has been selected as the Edward J. “Ed” Langton Scholarship recipient for 2017.
The Edward J. “Ed” Langton Scholarship was created in 2004 by the employees of Grand Bank in honor of their CEO, Ed Langton, and established as a Scholarship Fund with the Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation.
Each year, a committee of Grand Bank employees selects a student based on academic excellence, community involvement, determination to excel and financial need.
Jourdan plans to attend The University of Southern Mississippi, with a goal to become an attorney.
She has volunteered with After School Academics & Arts Program of Hattiesburg, Academy of Kids Childcare, Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative Girl Matters Workshop and many other organizations in the Pine Belt focused on mentoring and supporting children of her own age and younger.
Jourdan is a member of the Ivy Pearls, Beta Club, Key Club and Forrest General Hospital Spirit Girls.
She is the daughter of Adina Narcisse Green.
