Benefit to aid tornado victims on Saturday

Residents of the City of Petal are making strides to return to as normal as possible in the aftermath of the Jan. 21 tornado.

Hancock Bank is working with the Petal Chamber of Commerce to do its part in helping residents and business owners recover after the storm.

Valerie Wilson, director of the Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber will host a benefit to not only raise money for those affected, but to also honor first responders who worked tirelessly after the storm to help out across the Pine Belt.

The “Protectors of Petal” benefit will be held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Venue at Roseoak.

The event will feature live music performed by local musicians Wes Lee, T-Bone Pruitt, Wes Johnson and The Remnants, a silent auction, barbeque with all the fixins’ and a 50/50 cash drawdown. BBQ and all fixings by Double M BBQ will provide food for the evening, including BBQ and all the fixings. The Cosmopolitan Club and Heritage Club of Petal will provide desserts.

Wes Lee will take the stage at 4 p.m., followed by The Remnants at 5 p.m. and a live auction at 6 p.m. featuring Jeff Martin Auctioneers.

T-bone Pruitt and the Rhythm Rockers will end the nights entertainment with a performance beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Limited edition T-shirts will be printed on site to ensure those in attendance get the correct size.

A cash beer bar will also be available with contributions from Stokes Distributing. Tickets are $25.

However, first responders and their plus ones will receive free admission, including street, water and recreation staff, in addition to the police department, fire department and Highway Patrol.
