Warriors travel to George County


LUCEDALE – After a quick 3-0 start for Oak Grove, it had a scheduled bye week immediately after its first loss of the season to Hattiesburg.

On one hand, players had to stew on their first loss of the season, anxiously waiting for region play to start this Friday, but on the flip side, it gave the Warriors a chance to get healthy.

PREP POLL: Hattiesburg moves up in Top 10


Hattiesburg was the big winner in this week’s Associated Press Prep Poll, as the Tigers climbed into the Top 5 after beating previously No. 4-ranked Oak Grove.

The Warriors dropped to No. 8 in the overall poll, and No. 5 in the 6A poll, while Hattiesburg stayed put behind West Point in 5A, which is the No. 1 team in the state.

A pair of perfect Hattiesburg teams meet Friday night


HATTIESBURG – Both teams are ranked in the Associated Prep Top 10 poll, both teams have started the season 3-0 and both teams are located in the city of Hattiesburg.

On Friday at 7 p.m., the Oak Grove Warriors and the Hattiesburg Tigers will renew their rivalry at D.I. Patrick Stadium in what should be an electric environment.

After Oak Grove began the season with a 45-7 win over Purvis, which was highlighted by a dynamic offense that gained 504 yards of total offense by using a plethora of weapons, how could the Warriors get better? Well, their starting running back could come back from injury.
