Miss Hospitality

Representing Petal in the Miss Hospitality pageant is Haley Brown, a lifelong resident of the city.

“I have lived in Petal my entire life and no matter how much the city begins to grow, the community still remains very close,” Brown said. “For example, no one hesitated to lend a helping hand whenever the tornado devoted our town.”

This reason is the main one that led to her decision to represent Petal in the pageant.

“Because of the community aspect that it holds and how this city has allowed me to grow and become the young woman I am today,” she added

While most of her time is devoted to school and her job, Brown has been taking time to read up on local and state news and preparing her speech and commercial by exploring the deep history of Mississippi in preparation for the competition.

“I've never competed in a pageant before, so my main goal is to go on stage and be the best representation for my city as I possibly can be,” Brown said. “For me, it is not about winning or losing. I want Petal to truly be seen for what it is called, the friendly city.”

Brown is an accounting and entrepreneurship double major at The University of Southern Mississippi and a 2015 graduate of Petal High School.

“After I complete my degrees, I plan on work for a couple years until I can open my own business,” she said. “I would like to open a wedding venue in the Pine Belt area not to long after I graduate.”

Brown is the daughter of LTC Jonathan Brown and Machelle Brown.
