Stamp Out Hunger: Leave bag of nonperishable items for postman Saturday

Saturday, May 12,  marks the 26th anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers' "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive. It’s the second year that Community Bank of Hattiesburg has been providing bags for the foodraiser. Approximately 55,000 bags will be distributed to Pine Belt residents during this week.




Forrest Co. District 2 voting precinct moves from USO to Eureka

Some Forrest County voters in District 2 will soon switch to a different voting precinct on election days.

Members of the Forrest County Board of Supervisors recently approved the relocation of the precinct at the African American Military History Museum, 305 E. Sixth St., to the Eureka School building at 412 E. Sixth St.

Faculty, staff and students in Petal School District have been pinching pennies lately as a way to pay it forward to other districts affected by hurricanes.

After Petal was hit by a tornado in January, numerous school districts reached out to Petal School District to offer assistance.
