Petal High School selling back-issue yearbooksBy HASKEL BURNS,
Petal High School graduates who didn’t receive a yearbook during their senior year – or misplaced theirs in the ensuing years since – are in luck.
School officials are looking to sell almost 600 back issues of high school yearbooks, with the following years available: 1979, 1985, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2004-2015. Petal Middle School yearbooks from 1985 also are available.
“I inherited Yearbook last year, and so they brought all the yearbooks that have not sold over the years to me,” said Tracy Sustaita, digital media technology teacher at the school. “So I’m trying to make a little bit of money for the yearbook staff, and get the cost down as much as we can for our current students.”
Cost of the yearbooks is $10 for books before 2004 and $20 for books from 2004-2015. The books can be purchased by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and can be picked up at the high school.
Cash or money order is preferred for payment, as credit and debit cards are not accepted.
“We’ve already sold five since I (posted) it on Facebook, so that’s not too bad,” Sustaita said. “I’m able to ship them, but of course there’s an additional cost for each book.
“So it kind of depends – I have to check – I think it’s five or six dollars per book at the post office for me to get them in those boxes. And (buyers) have to send me the money before I can send it to them.”
The yearbooks will be available until late December.
“We have to do fundraiser requests, and my fundraiser request goes through December,” Sustaita said. “So I’ll be selling them until before we leave for Christmas.”
