Purvis' Farlow retires as AD; plans to continue to coach baseballBy CAMAL PETRO,
Purvis Athletics Director and head baseball coach Tony Farlow is stepping down at the end of the 2017-18 school year. However, he has full intentions to continue to coach baseball.
While Farlow has resigned from his AD and head baseball coach position as a full-time employee, he plans to reapply as Purvis’ baseball coach as a part-time member of the school.
“I have officially resigned as AD and baseball coach at Purvis High School,” he said exclusively to PineBeltSPORTS Tuesday. “I have all intentions for reapplying for the head baseball job whenever it comes back open, with the hopes being able to work part-time and coach baseball.”
Farlow has served as the Athletics Director for Purvis for 15 years.
A season after posting a losing record for the first time since 2008 on the diamond, Farlow and Tornadoes are currently enjoying the best season since 2004 under Farlow with a 17-2 overall record. The 2004 team finished with a 32-4 overall record and a state championship.
This is Farlow’s 21st season at Purvis, and he’s been a head coach for the past 31 years.
