When John and Carolyn Lopinto decided to wed, a Valentine’s Day wedding seemed the perfect day as it also coincided with Carolyn’s birthday. However, John’s relatively new employment with the New Orleans Police Department – and the city’s annual Mardi Gras no leave policy forced – an earlier wedding on Feb. 10, 1961.
